Three Haiku from Today’s Walk on Bernal Hill

low sunlight reveals

arachne’s glimmering shroud

blanketing parched ground

old oaks on hilltop

thrive among the dry grasses

during this year’s drought

modest blue flower

reminds us of many lives

hidden by the grass
